Don't just pay your ticket!

By just paying your ticket you not only plead guilty, but the conviction goes on your driving record, points get assessed on your driver license,
you may lose the 'safe driver' status and risk getting an increase on your insurance premium as a result of getting a moving violation.

Elect a traffic school option

The best part of electing traffic school is that it keeps the adjudication from your driving record. As a result of this withheld adjudication,
your insurance cannot be affected (unless you were at fault in a crash) and points do not go on your license.

Qualifications

  • You can only elect a traffic school option once every twelve (12) months. (court orders don't count)
  • You may only elect a traffic school option five (5) times in your life. (court orders don't count)
  • If you have a commercial driver license (CDL), you may NOT elect traffic school - It must be court ordered.

Please be aware of the rules and regulations of the county where you received your citation. Check with the "Florida Counties" to find the specific requirements of that county about making a traffic school election. Some counties require signed affidavits and have strict rules about when to take a course and how long you have to return a certificate of completion to the Clerk of Court.
